Ngee Ann College was established on May 25, 1963 and located at the Teochew Building on Tank Road but was renamed Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 1982 to provide high quality education,Ngee Ann Polytechnic is one of Singapore's leading institutions of higher learning. Its eight academic schools offer a total of 45 full-time diploma courses.
 
In 1993, Ngee Ann launched NPNet, a $9-million campus-wide computer network, making it the first local polytechnic to have such a network.The vision of Nanyang Polytechnic is to Connect Minds, Unlock Talents and Create Values.The mission of Ngee Ann Polytechnic is to nurture enterprising professionals for the economy through education and training.
 
In recognition of its dedication to world-class education, the Polytechnic has garnered numerous awards, including the Public Service Award for Organisational Excellence (2001 & 2004), People Developer Award (since 2000), Singapore Quality Class (since 1999), and the ISO 9001:2000 certification (since 2001).
 
Ngee Ann Polytechnic is a Public Polytechnic in Singapore offering Diplomas.It became the first polytechnic in 1999 to offer a Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
